IHU Summer School Language Program Applications Started

Ibn Haldun University Summer School’s language program offers intensive instruction in modern Turkish, Ottoman Turkish, Persian, and Arabic to international undergraduate and graduate students, and to professionals. The program is located in central Istanbul and aims to provide an immersive learning experience by combining its co-curricular activities with extracurricular activities. Those activities include debates, workshops and seminars by distinguished scholars on history, politics, literature, arts, cultural events, movie screening and field trips to historical sites.

The program offers no application fee to students who applies until February 23, 2018. The deadline for application is April, 30. Classes begin on June 25 and the expiration dates vary because of the courses. The program also offers credit transfer and each student who succesfully completes the course will have a certificate.

Applicants should fill out the necessary form and return it to the contact person for each language course along with a curriculum vitae, unofficial transcript (if the applicant is a student), copy of passport.

Limited number of scholarships

IHU Summer School Language Program offers a limited number of scholarships in different categories based on financial need and academic merit. It also offers discounted rates for students admitted to IHU graduate programs for Fall 2018. To be considered for scholarships, applicants should submit a recommendation letter from a faculty member or administrator.

Students start the program after a placement test to determine the level of their language knowledge. The 140 hours IHU Summer School Language Program course is equivalent to two full semesters of language instruction in a credit-based course.  The 70-hour option, on the other hand, is equivalent to one full semester of instruction.

Fees include tuition, course materials, lunch and program activities but exclude housing, international travel fares, passport and visa costs, and health/travel insurance. Students who need housing during the program, may easily get in touch with the IHU International Office for help.

The IHU Summer School Language Program, 2018, is coordinated and developed in collaboration with IHU School of Languages  and the Department of History.
