The Ibn Haldun University (IHU) Summer School Language Program offers intensive instruction in Modern Turkish, Ottoman Turkish, Arabic, and Persian for international students and professionals. Classes of the program, organized in collaboration with IHU School of Languages and the Department of History, will start on June 8, 2020, and end on July 24, 2020. Application deadline for all language courses is set to be March 31, 2020.
IHU Summer Languages Program is a full Summer Term that over seven weeks offers twice the transferable credits as a regular 14-week semester. All classes will meet at IHU’s historically atmospheric Süleymaniye Campus, part of the famous Ottoman architect Sinan’s 16th-century Süleymaniye Complex, situated right at the heart of Istanbul. A wholly immersive experience is designed to comprise co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as conversation tables and study hours; seminars by top scholars on Turkish history, politics, literature, and art; cultural events, movie screenings, and field trips to historical sites and archives.
Students will be given a skill-based placement test in their chosen language, prepared and conducted by specialists and experienced instructors, after which they are placed at an appropriate level. At the end of the program, certificate of participation will be issued upon the successful completion of each course.
