“History of Civilization Sciences in Islam” Symposium Calls for Papers


Honoring the Professor Fuat Sezgin and paying homage to his scientific legacy, Ibn Haldun University organizes the symposium of “History of Civilization Sciences in Islam”. The symposium is going to be held on December 20-21, 2019, in Istanbul.

Due to his valuable contributions, Turkey has declared 2019 as the year of Fuat Sezgin, a world-renowned late Turkish historian of science who made significant contributions to the documentation of the scientific works of the Muslim civilization.

Since Fuat Sezgin contributed to the understanding of the impact of Muslim civilization on science, the symposium will accept papers, in three languages which are Turkish, English, and Arabic, focusing on the Muslim civilization’s contribution to the following areas: History of Classification of Sciences, History of Literature, History of Linguistics, History of History, History of Geography, History of Psychology, History of Philosophy, History of Management, History of Economics, History of Politics, History of Islamic Sciences, History of History of Religion, History of Civilizations Research,   History of Educational Sciences, History of Art, History of Sociology, History of Logic, History of Communication.

Important Dates for the symposium are:

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 30 September 2019.

Notification of accepted submissions will be given by 7 October 2019.

First drafts should be submitted by 15 November 2019.

Interested contributors have until September 30, 2019, to submit abstracts not exceeding 500 words to: hcsi@ihu.edu.tr
