As part of our university’s ongoing efforts to continuously improve education and teaching processes, the “Workshop on Evaluating and Developing Education and Teaching Processes II” was held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Media and Events Center.
The workshop, which began with opening and vision remarks by our Rector, Prof. Atilla Arkan, assessed the current state of educational processes, identified areas for development, and made plans for improvement processes.
The workshop was coordinated by our Vice Rector, Prof. Özcan Erkan Akgün. The workshop, attended by our university’s deans, department chairs, division chairs, and faculty members, first addressed the transition process to the 7+1 applied education model in the social sciences. The expected benefits of applied education, regulations implemented by the Higher Education Council (YÖK), preparatory work being carried out at our university, and assessments regarding potential partner institutions were shared.
Research Assistant Kaan Şentürk shared experiences regarding applied education processes using the New Media and Communication Program as an example. The presentation evaluated sample practices related to program development, the structuring of educational plans, and update processes.
At the workshop, under the coordination of the deans’ offices, the department chairs presented their work on updating the 8-semester undergraduate education plans. The presentations addressed the updates planned for program-based education plans, the practical training courses to be included in the final-semester course schedules, the duration of practical training, credit information, and plans regarding institutions targeted for collaboration within the scope of practical training.
Later in the workshop, Nilay Yıldıran, Director of the Human Resources Office, gave a presentation on programs for Postdoctoral Researchers, Visiting Faculty Members, and initiatives conducted under Article 46 of the University Regulations. Information was shared regarding these programs, which support academic development and the university ecosystem.
Assoc. Prof. Ömer Faruk Erol, Director of the School of Graduate Studies, provided information on the Integrated Master’s Program, Micro-Credentials, and L700 courses. Evaluations were made regarding the contributions these initiatives will make to educational processes and the opportunities for development they offer. Additionally, information was shared regarding online asynchronous courses and the Notmatix application.
In the final segment of the program, Prof. Enis Doko, Chair of the Common Courses Department, addressed AI-focused courses, courses centered on our culture and civilization, and the topic of updating these courses.
Throughout the workshop, our faculty members shared their views and suggestions for improving teaching and learning processes, and roadmaps were created for improvement initiatives to be carried out at the department and program levels.
Organized in line with our university’s vision of continuously improving the quality of education and teaching, the “Workshop on Evaluating and Developing Education and Teaching Processes II” was successfully concluded with the contributions of our faculty members. Efforts to evaluate and develop educational processes will continue in the coming period.
