The section that will provide transportation on the Halkalı – Arnavutköy route of the Halkalı – Istanbul Airport – Gayrettepe metro line has been opened on Friday, June 19, 2026, with the participation of President Erdoğan. Covering a total of 69 kilometers in 57 minutes and operating at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, the Halkalı – Istanbul Airport – Gayrettepe metro line stands as the longest and fastest metro in our country. The driverless metro line is equipped with a domestic signaling system produced by Aselsan.
Reducing the distance between Halkalı and Istanbul Airport to 30 minutes, the new section features the İbn Haldun Üniversitesi station. The station is located within a very close distance to the campus of Ibn Haldun University.
Attending the opening ceremony following a test drive, President Erdoğan shared the good news that the newly opened route will provide free service until July 31, 2026.
