A cooperation protocol was signed between Ibn Haldun University and Arnavutköy Municipality for the establishment of the “New Media Academy,” which will contribute to equipping young people with strong skills in media and communication. The signing ceremony was attended by our Rector, Prof. Atilla Arkan, Arnavutköy Mayor Mustafa Candaroğlu, along with our academics, journalists, students, and local residents.

"We Support This Project Through Our School of Communication and Continuing Education Center"

In his speech, Ibn Haldun University Rector Prof. Atilla Arkan said, “It is of great importance that our young people are able to share their own stories, values, and social experiences through new media. This academy will contribute to the development of communication and digital skills. As a university, we support this project through our School of Communication and Continuing Education Center. Our goal is to equip our youth with analytical thinking, communication competencies, and digital skills, thereby preparing them to become strong actors of tomorrow.”

"Let’s Harness the Power of Media for Social Good"

At the ceremony, Arnavutköy Mayor Mustafa Candaroğlu emphasized that the district’s young and dynamic population is its most valuable asset. In this context, he noted that the newly established New Media Academy is an important step toward ensuring that young people become not only media consumers but also content creators and leaders in the sector. Highlighting that the academy will offer a wide range of training programs—from radio broadcasting to digital law—Candaroğlu stated that students will receive hands-on education in modern classrooms and fully equipped studios under the guidance of expert instructors. He concluded with a call: “Let’s harness the power of media for social good.”

After the protocol signing, journalists met with students to share their experiences on new media. Zafer Şahin emphasized that the academy provides young people with an opportunity to enter the profession more consciously, while Fulya Öztürk underlined that true journalism is only possible with conscience and a sense of responsibility, values she believes the academy will instill. Zülfikar Ali Aydın highlighted that journalism is a profession of practice and character, noting that such academies make significant contributions to young people.

Established within the municipality, the New Media Academy will offer a wide range of training—from radio broadcasting to social media management, from digital content production to video editing. With its hands-on programs and certification opportunities, the academy will enable young people to take a strong first step into the sector.
