In a workshop organized by Department of Economics of Ibn Haldun University, Prof. Asad Zaman, Vice Chancellor at Pakistan Institute of Developing Economics, stressed that capitalism is deceiving people by publishing misleading statistical informations. Professor Zaman lectured about his methodology of teaching economics entitled “Search For Knowledge: A non-eurocentric Approach Battle of Methodologies Teaching Economics.” Zaman said his approach is built on three levels; explaining the conventional approach, refuting it and then introducing the Islamic one. "I developed subjects that are available on the internet and should be teached.” he added.
According to professor Zaman, it is important to distinguish between real and fabricated statistical figures that ara provided and read the reality that stands behind it. "Meanwhile reality has to be taken into consideration when technical methods are used. For example “mean value" cannot be given instead of “median value". This is deception, because the first value shows everyone is benefiting while the second one indicate that there is no progress.” he said. Answering a question about how to tackle poverty, professor Zaman explained that Islam orders rich people should share their extra wealth with the poor, but about %85 of the wealth is controlled by %1 of people who have the power to prevent the redistibution of resources. He said, "Capitalism is built on worshipping money and protecting rich people from the hands of the poor."
