Organized every summer by our University for high school students, this year’s YKS Academic Camp completed its one-month program and came to an end on July 30.
Commencing on July 6 with the participation of hundreds of students from 42 cities across our country, the camp program strengthened the knowledge, skills, and social aspects of rising 11th-grade students while supporting the university exam preparation of rising 12th-grade students.
On Monday, July 27, the Vice Chairman of Ibn Haldun University's Board of Trustees, Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, and our Rector, Prof. Atilla Arkan, engaged in an intimate talk with the high school participants of the YKS Academic Camp.
Throughout the discussion, the importance of caring about societal issues was emphasized. Erdoğan expressed Ibn Haldun University's founding mission, stating, “We established Ibn Haldun University to raise individuals who will take the issues of society as their own concern and work as thought leaders throughout their lives.” He pointed out that successful students—the brightest values of our society—often do not view academia as a career goal.
Furthermore, Erdoğan noted that the rapid and painful transformation the world is experiencing is gradually eroding values related to humanity. He encouraged young participants to question what is happening to humans and humanity. Advising them with the words, “Live for others besides yourselves,” he urged them not to live selfishly, but rather to leave a mark and gain true friends by engaging in works beneficial to society. In response to a student's question on how to build and preserve our values and intellectual foundation in the world of the future, he answered, “We must transform indifferent people into caring ones, and caring people into endeavoring ones,” emphasizing the necessity of carrying concerns that affect humanity within our intellectual foundation.
Our Rector, Prof. Atilla Arkan, thanked those who founded Ibn Haldun University upon recognizing the need for social sciences and for cultivating social scientists. He also mentioned that preparations are underway to establish a social sciences high school.
The YKS Academic Camp for 11th and 12th-grade high school students concluded with the distribution of certificates at a ceremony held on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
