Our University Hosted the “Current Approaches in Archival Studies” Workshop and Training Program
Our University hosted the “Current Approaches in Archival Studies” Workshop and Training Program, where representatives from the Directorate of State Archives and academicians shared their knowledge and experiences regarding archiving.

Organized by our University's Editorial Directorate, the "Current Approaches in Archiving" Workshop and Training Program was held on May 6, 2026, with intensive participation from various institutions across Turkey. In addition to representatives from the Directorate of State Archives, approximately 270 participants from 48 different institutions attended the program.

The event brought together academics, experts, and administrative staff to discuss current developments in the field of archiving, digital transformation processes, and new approaches to records management.

Delivering the opening speech of the event, our university president, Prof. Atilla Arkan, drew attention to the transformation occurring in the field of archiving, emphasizing the importance of blockchain networks, the security of digital archives, and electronic records management. He stated that in a digitalizing world, information security and sustainable archive management have become a strategic necessity for institutions.

Within the scope of the program, academicians and experts delivered presentations providing comprehensive evaluations on how archival materials should be preserved, the importance of archives in terms of institutional memory, and how institutional staff should conduct file storage and archival processes. Additionally, current approaches regarding the future of Electronic Records and Archive Management Systems were shared with the participants.

While the standards required for creating physical archives were also addressed during the workshop, emphasis was placed on the significance of our University achieving the TS ISO 11799 standard as part of its work in the field of archiving. The program contributed to the evaluation of contemporary practices in archiving and strengthened the exchange of information between institutions.
