Announcement Related to IHU’s Measures Taken Against COVID-19
Measures continue to be taken across the University about the new type of coronavirus (COVID-19).

In this context, the COVID-19 Coordination Board, established under the presidency of our Vice President Prof. Yüksel Özden, started its activities by planning measures to be carried out at Ibn Haldun University (IHU) and sharing them with our members immediately.

In line with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and the regulations and instructions of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the precautions taken, as of March 13, at IHU campuses for the safety of students, academics, administrative staff, are summarized below. New developments and decisions continue to be shared with our members through internal communication channels.

Measures for Education and Other Activities:

  • With the decision of the Presidency, education activities at university campuses, as in all educational institutions, were suspended for three weeks starting from March 16.
  • In this process, a full-scale trial of online education was carried out on our university's online education platform https://canvas.ihu.edu.tr/, where infrastructure works and tests were accomplished. Support is provided to our academics and students by our IT Services Department for the use of the online education platform.
  • All scientific, cultural, artistic and sports activities carried out by SKS and other academic/ administrative units in our campuses have been put on hold for the time being.
  • In IHU Library, all physical services, including research, reading and using other services provided through the library, have been suspended, except for online requests.

Measures for Students, Academics and Administrative Staff:

  • From the beginning of the process, all our members were informed about individual measures they could take regarding COVID-19. Necessary trainings were also given through posters, videos and other documents.
  • After the classes were suspended at IHU campuses, students were consulted about the subjects that they will contribute to. The university’s administration and the Student Representative Board (SRB) provided the necessary capabilities in respect of transportation for our Turkish students who wanted to spend the break in their hometown.
  • All of students, including international students, who continued to stay in dormitories, were provided with single rooms.
  • We continue to provide all kinds of social and psychological support to our students either through one-to-one interviews or online, through our International Office, Psychotherapy Practice and Research Center, Guidance and Psychological Counseling Practice and Research Center (REDAM) units and related academics.
  • Our academics were provided with the convenience and flexibility required to continue their education and research activities online from their homes.
  • Necessary guidance was given on the digital resources needed by our academics for courses and other research activities.
  • The academic and administrative staff, excluding the President, Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors of the Foreign Language Academy, who are over the age of 60 and those suffering from a chronic disease, people with disabilities and pregnant women will be considered on administrative leave. Those who request leave except the above mentioned conditions will be evaluated within the bounds of their excuses by the Presidency.
  • The trips abroad along with the pre-planned travels of our academic and administrative staff are canceled until further notice.

Precautions Taken in Our Campuses and Dormitories:

  • All necessary measures were taken in our campuses within the scope of COVID-19 measures. Except for our members, our campuses were closed to guests. Disinfectants were placed in frequently used places. Cleaning and sterilization of campus environments have been intensified. Sufficient masks were distributed to our employees and necessary warnings were made to circulate them in masks in public areas.
  • Adequate masks were also provided in the dormitories. Disinfectants were placed, hygiene and sterilization processes of rooms, social areas and dining halls continue to be applied frequently.
