A Symposium Organized by School of Law Discusses the Future of Mediation
The “Future of Mediation” symposium organized by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Research Center and the School of Law was fully held online on Saturday 14, 2020.

While the symposium was broadcast live on IHU’s official YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/ibnhalduni), synchronous sessions was broadcast live on School of Law’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/ihuhukuk). At the symposium, which was organized with the contributions of the Department of Mediation of the General Directorate of Legal Affairs and attended by distinguished mediator and academic lawyers, papers were presented in all areas of mediation law and current developments in the field were evaluated. At the opening of the symposium, IHU’s President Prof. Recep Şentürk, Vice President Prof. Ali Yeşilırmak and General Director of Legal Affairs at Ministry of Justice Hakan Öztatar gave welcome speeches.

Stressing the importance of mediation as an argument in the relationship between law and economics, Hakan Öztatar highlighted that Turkey is now a prominent country in arbitration and mediation in the region and across the world. Following the welcoming remarks, the sessions of the symposium started. In the 6 sessions held, 28 distinguished lawyers presented their papers on mediation from various perspectives.
