Ibn Haldun University signed a cooperation memorandum with Al-Neelain University, Sudan's second largest. Professor Kamal Osman, the president of Al-Neelain University and a delegation of professors visited Professor Recep Şentürk at Ibn Haldun University's campus in Başakşehir, Istanbul. After the meeting Prof. Şentürk and Prof. Osman made statements about the visit and the future cooperation between two institutions. "Having Turkey's highest percentage of international students, Ibn Haldun University is working to be an attraction center for foreign students and therefore giving high importance for cooperation with universities abroad" Prof. Şenturk said and added; "Ibn Haldun University have quite number of cooperation agreements with universities from Japan to USA. And now we are improving this by signing another agreement. We are signing a cooperation momerandum with Niley University from Sudan. This cooperation will be beneficial both for Nileyn University and for us."
Prof. Şentürk stressed that geopolitical importance of Africa is increasing and that gives a boost to African studies. Şentürk said; "Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has paid a visit to Sudan in the recent days. During this visit a series of agreements have been signed between Turkey and Sudan including political, economical and commercial fields. And as a sign of appreciation Sudanese government allocated Sevakin Island to Turkey for 99 years. That shows the importance of relations between two countries. That is also another sign that Turkey is an appreciated and a beloved country for the people of Sudan." Prof. Şentürk emphasized that Ibn Haldun University can contribute to this process culturally and therefore accepted the proposal of cooperation from Nileyn University. Şentürk said that the cooperation includes the joint management of the PhD dissertations and the exchange of students and faculty members. "We will work to organize joint symposiums covering the relations between Turkey and Sudan. Because Sudan is an important country both in the Arab and African world. They are situated in African but speaking Arabic. Sudan can bridge Turkey both to Africa and to Arabic world. Sudan is critically important Muslim country with a high number of educated people and they speak Arabic. Strengthening the relations betwen Sudan and Turkey will also be beneficial to Africa" Prof. Şentürk added.
Professor Kamal Osman, the president of Al-Neelain University said, having more than 100 thousand students, they aim to improve relations with Ibn Haldun University. Prof. Osman said the cooperation between two universities will include the exchange of students and faculty staff and joint research in too many fields. "We are so happy for signing this cooperation memorandum" Prof. Osman said. After the statements Prof. Şentürk and Prof. Osman exchanged presents.
