The opening ceremony, held on Monday, May 5, was attended by the Governor of Istanbul Davut Gül, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. İrfan Gündüz, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, our President Prof. Atilla Arkan, Chairman of the Board of RAMS Türkiye Devran Bülbül, Honorary President of RAMS Global Ramazan Bülbül, members of our Board of Trustees, staff members, and a distinguished group of guests.
The ceremony began with a recitation from the Qur’an by Başakşehir Mufti Üzeyir Arslantaş.
The Governor of Istanbul, Davut Gül, emphasized that the support institutional companies provide to education, culture, arts, and sports contributes both to the development of the country and the construction of their own values. Governor Gül thanked the Bülbül Family and all those who contributed to this meaningful endeavor, and concluded his remarks with good wishes for the guesthouse.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. İrfan Gündüz expressed his gratitude to Ramazan Bülbül, Devran Bülbül, and Doğan Bülbül for their contributions to the project. He stated that the guesthouse was brought to life with the aim of allowing academics to engage in scholarly pursuits without worrying about accommodation. Gündüz also mentioned the university’s current enrollment of 2,000 students and its target of reaching 5,000 students, along with the building’s sustainable operation supported by solar energy panels.
Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan highlighted in his speech that the guesthouse would meet an important need for academics. He emphasized the university’s goal of becoming not only a national but also a global center for knowledge and research, stating that the Ramazan Bülbül Guesthouse was designed as a world-class facility to meet accommodation needs in line with this vision.
Our President, Prof. Atilla Arkan, underlined that the guesthouse is not merely a place for accommodation but also a space where academics and prospective academics can come together and interact. He emphasized that this structure directly contributes to the university’s scientific mission and aligns with our institutional vision by providing a comfortable accommodation space in a city like Istanbul for academics from around the world.
Chairman of the Board of RAMS Türkiye Devran Bülbül stated that the Ramazan Bülbül Guesthouse was designed to contribute to education and academic work. He noted that the building, featuring more than fifty different types of rooms, reflects the spirit of hospitality.
Honorary President of RAMS Global Ramazan Bülbül also delivered a brief speech to express his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project.
Following the speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with prayers. Then, protocol members and guests toured the Ramazan Bülbül Guesthouse and received detailed information about the building.
Located within walking distance of the Başakşehir Metrokent metro station, the Ramazan Bülbül Guesthouse is advantageously positioned in terms of transportation. Equipped with over 50 different room types and various facilities, the building is designed to serve the academics and researchers of our university. This new structure also makes a significant contribution to Ibn Haldun University’s vision of becoming a center of attraction for accommodation and the production of knowledge and ideas.
