During the spring semester opening program of MEDIT Conferences, Prof. Recep Şentürk delivered a speech titled "What is a university?" Referring to the difference between the tradition of the "madrasa" and the university system of today, Şentürk explained how Ibn Haldun University is inspired by madrasa tradition. "Universities are places where people learn to think and to produce new ideas," said Recep Şentürk. "Ibn Haldun University is the first research university in Turkey whereas university is realised in real terms." The conversation ended with question and answer part. The Alliance of Civilizations Institute organizes MEDIT conferences every wednesday at it center in Yenikapi Mevlehihanesi.
