Professor Sperry Presented "Look Sharp" Project at Ibn Haldun University

Professor Chris Sperry from Ithaca University based in New York, USA, presented the "Look Sharp" project at Ibn Haldun University, developed for the curriculum of media literacy.

Professor Sperry said "Look Sharp" project is a method for analyzing media, that could easily be used during media literacy lectures in universities. "With this method the content can easily be analyzed in terms of possession, targets, scope, technics used, context, finance, reliability, effects, comments and feedbacks of the audience." he said.

Professor Sperry also demonstrated the method during his presentation. Using Vietnan War as a sample case, professor Sperry presented how Vietnaw War was published on the front pages of Newsweek magazine and how public opinion has changed in time about war.  Scholars of the Department of Communications at Ibn Haldun University also shared their experiences and the academic studies about media literacy in Turkey.

Associate Professor Mehmet Babacan, the Head of Department of Media and Communications, Dr. Hakkı Öcal, Dr. Ekrem Çelikiz and research assistant Osman Doğan as well as Sevil Sezen, Specialist in Education and Cultural Relations at the Counsulate of USA in Istanbul were also attended the presentation.
